TODAY we launch a new look for theage.com.au, Victoria's No 1 news website.
We have reorganised the home page from the top down to give you more news, more videos, more features and an easier-to-use site.The home page is cleaner with more white space and room around the articles and images.We've centred the theage.com.au logo and on either side we've placed the weather and our top opinion writers and bloggers.VIDEO AND ENTERTAINMENT Video downloads have been rapidly growing. To make them easier to find we have a news and entertainment video showcase on the top right.The "What's On" guide, Life & Style and Entertainment areas have all had a facelift, moving to the right-hand side with more images and video.NAVIGATION Site navigation has been simplified. If you want to see everything we've got, click on "Show all sections" for an expanded guide. Or you can continue to search by keyword just to the right of that.While we've made these changes to improve the look and feel of the site, much will still be familiar. We have kept key features of the previous design that has taken us to the leading position as one of the most popular news sites in Australia, with a huge global audience.REPORTING As well as the quality reporting and analysis from The Age's award-winning journalists, we will continue to provide the fastest, most in-depth breaking news in Australia, with extensive multimedia and reader forums. Please contact us on www.theage.com.au/contacts/website/ and let us know what you think.AGE BEATS NEWS LTD ONLINE The Age's website, theage.com.au, continues to be third most-read news website in Australia.Figures released by Nielsen/ Netratings for July show the website recorded a seven per cent rise in unique browsers - the most commonly used measurement of web readership.The website ranks third behind Australia's leading website - another Fairfax Media publication Sydney Morning Herald site smh.com.au - and ninemsn's National Nine News site. It is the number one Victorian news site The Age website now attracts 2.65 million unique browsers a month, compared to 1.76 million in January - a 66 per cent increase.The audited figures are for domestic readership and do not include overseas visitors.
